When a Page Can't Load

Read the message on a failed page, know what caused it, and pick the right fix. Covers offline, timeouts, rate limits, server errors, expired sessions, deactivated accounts, role and plan restrictions, missing records, and conflicts.

When a page in the admin cannot load its data, it replaces the content with a short message and, at most, one button. The message names the cause, so you can tell a dropped connection from a plan restriction from a role restriction without guessing. The button is chosen the same way: you only see Retry when trying again can actually work.

Redesigned admin (v2)

This page describes the redesigned admin skin (v2). The cause-specific messages below appear on the v2 pages that load a list, a detail view, or a settings panel. A page that has not been moved to v2 keeps its older error wording.

How to read a failed page

Read the bold line first

The first line is the cause, for example You're offline. or Your session has ended. It is written to tell you what happened, not to show a technical code.

Read the one line under it

The second line says whether your data is safe and what to do. Several causes tell you nothing was changed.

Use the single button, if there is one

Each cause shows one recovery button: Retry, Sign in again, Sign out, See plans, Open settings, Ask owner, Go back, Reload, or Reload page. Some causes show no button because the fix is on the page itself (see Validation below).

If the page was opened with no cause available at all, it shows the general message Couldn't load this, with Something went wrong while loading. Check your connection and try again. and a Retry button.

Every cause, what you see, and what to do

Connection and speed problems (Retry is offered)

CauseWhat you seeWhat it meansButtonWhat to do
OfflineYou're offline. Your changes are kept on this page. We'll reconnect when your internet is back.Your browser reports that it has no internet connection. This message wins over any other cause while the browser is offline.RetryRestore your connection, then select Retry. Nothing you typed on the page is discarded.
NetworkCouldn't reach BillionBiz. Check your connection, then try again. Nothing was changed. You are online, but the request got no answer (for example, a blocked network, a VPN, or a Wi-Fi drop).RetryCheck your connection or switch network, then select Retry.
TimeoutThis is taking too long. The server didn't answer in time. Try again in a moment. The request was sent but the answer did not arrive in time, or the server reported a gateway or request timeout.RetryWait a few seconds and select Retry.
Too many requestsToo many attempts. Wait about a minute, then try again. You sent requests faster than the platform allows.Try again in Ns, then Try againSee the note below.

For network, timeout, and server errors, the page may show its own title and one-line guidance instead of the general wording above, for example a message naming what failed to load. The button and the meaning are the same.

Too many requests and the wait time. The button starts disabled and counts down (Try again in Ns). The wait comes from the server's Retry-After answer, kept between 5 and 120 seconds, and defaults to 60 seconds when the server gives no value. When the countdown reaches zero the button becomes Try again and works. The line under the title says "about a minute" whatever the actual wait, so trust the countdown on the button.

Server problems (Retry is offered)

CauseWhat you seeWhat it meansButtonWhat to do
Server error or service unavailableSomething went wrong on our side. Your data is safe. Try again in a moment. The platform failed while handling your request (a server error, bad gateway, or unavailable service). It is not caused by anything you did.RetryWait a moment and select Retry. If it keeps failing for several minutes, contact support and mention the page and the time.
Plan check unavailableWe can't check your plan right now. Try again in a moment. You haven't been charged. The service that confirms what your plan includes could not be reached. This is a temporary fault and does not mean your plan lacks the feature.RetrySelect Retry after a moment. Do not upgrade in response to this message.

The plan-check case is raised when the server answers with the code PLAN_GATE_UNAVAILABLE. It is kept separate from plan-gated below so a temporary fault is never shown as a plan limit.

Sign-in problems

CauseWhat you seeWhat it meansButtonWhat to do
Session expiredYour session has ended. Sign in again to keep working. What's on screen stays as it is until you do.Your sign-in is no longer valid and could not be renewed.Sign in againSelect Sign in again. It signs you out and opens the sign-in page.
Account deactivatedThis account is deactivated. Ask your store owner to turn it back on.The server refused your account because it has been deactivated.Sign outSelect Sign out. The sign-in page then shows Your access has been removed. Please contact your administrator. Ask the store owner to turn your account back on.

Role, plan, and setting restrictions (no Retry)

CauseWhat you seeWhat it meansButtonWhat to do
No permissionYou don't have access to [page name]. Your role can't open this. Ask the store owner to change your role. The page is not open to your role. If the page name is unknown, it reads this page.Go backSelect Go back, or ask the Owner to change your access. Roles are set with the Admin login switch on the Team page; see Team: People, Seats & Access.
Plan-gated[Page name] is part of [plan name]. Then Upgrade to turn it on. Your current plan keeps working as it is. for an Owner or Store Admin, or Ask the store owner to upgrade. for everyone else.Your current plan does not include this feature, or you reached a plan limit.Owner or Store Admin: See plans. Other roles: Ask ownerSee the walk-through below.
Feature switched off[Page name] isn't turned on for this store. Ask the store owner to enable it in Settings. The feature is not a plan problem; it has not been enabled for this store.Owner or Store Admin: Open settings. Other roles: Ask ownerSee the walk-through below.

Plan-gated: what each role does.

Owner or Store Admin

Select See plans. It opens Settings → Billing & Plan (/settings/billing), where you can compare plans and upgrade. The title names the lowest plan that includes the feature. If that plan cannot be looked up, it reads a higher plan.

Any other role

Select Ask owner. The button copies a ready-made message to your clipboard and shows a confirmation line under the card. Paste it into your own chat, email, or WhatsApp to the store owner. The page does not send anything itself.

Feature switched off: what each role does. An Owner or Store Admin selects Open settings, which opens Settings (/settings), and turns the feature on there. Any other role selects Ask owner, which works exactly as above.

Why there is no Retry here

A plan gate or a switched-off feature gives the same answer every time you ask. Retry would only repeat the refusal, so the page shows the fix instead.

The record, the change, or the form (no Retry)

CauseWhat you seeWhat it meansButtonWhat to do
Not foundWe can't find that [thing]. It may have been deleted or the link is out of date. The word in brackets names the item, such as an order; it reads page when the item is unknown. The record no longer exists, or the link points to something that was removed.Back to [list name] when the page knows its list, otherwise Go backReturn to the list and search for the record. Do not keep reloading an old link.
ConflictSomeone else changed this. Reload to see the latest version, then redo your change.A teammate saved a change to the same record after you opened it.ReloadSelect Reload, check what the other person changed, then make your edit again.
ValidationWe couldn't save that. Check the highlighted fields and try again. The server rejected what was submitted.NoneFix the highlighted fields on the form and submit again. The message is not a connection problem, so there is no Retry.
New version availableA new version is available. Reload to continue. The admin was updated while your tab was open, so part of the page could not load.ReloadSelect Reload. Your tab then picks up the new version.
Unexpected errorSomething went wrong. Reload the page. If it keeps happening, report it.The failure did not match any cause above.Reload pageReload the page. If it returns, report it to support with the page name and what you were doing.

Which errors offer Retry, and why the others do not

Retry (or, for rate limits, Try again) is offered only when the same request can succeed on a second attempt: offline, network, timeout, too many requests, server error, and plan check unavailable. In every one of these the fault is temporary and on the connection or platform side.

All other causes hide Retry because repeating the request cannot help, and a Retry that always fails would only waste your time:

  • Session expired and account deactivated need you to sign in or sign out, not to repeat the request.
  • No permission, plan-gated, and feature switched off are decisions about your role, plan, or settings, so the page points to the person or screen that can change them.
  • Not found means the record is gone.
  • Conflict needs a reload first, because retrying would overwrite the other person's change or fail again.
  • Validation needs you to change what you submitted.

Short messages (toasts) use the same wording

On v2 pages, a failed action can also appear as a brief notification instead of a full-page message. For these causes the notification is the same text as the page: offline, network, timeout, server error, plan check unavailable, too many requests, session expired, and account deactivated. It shows the bold line and the guidance together, for example You're offline. followed by Your changes are kept on this page. We'll reconnect when your internet is back. Other failures, such as a validation error on a save, keep the specific message returned for that action.

Troubleshooting

"I keep seeing 'try again'"

Check which message it is

Retry and Try again only appear for temporary causes. If the first line says You're offline., Couldn't reach BillionBiz., or This is taking too long., the problem is between your browser and BillionBiz.

Test your connection

Open another website. If it loads slowly or not at all, fix the connection first. On a VPN or a restricted office network, try a different network.

Wait out a rate limit

If the button reads Try again in Ns, wait for the countdown instead of selecting it repeatedly. Repeated clicks do not shorten the wait.

Rule out a platform fault

If the page says Something went wrong on our side. or We can't check your plan right now., wait a few minutes and retry. If it persists, contact support and name the page and the time. Your data is safe in both cases.

"I see 'ask the store owner'"

This wording appears in three situations, and the first line tells you which one it is.

First line saysMeaningThe store owner should
You don't have access to [page name].Your role cannot open the page.Change your access with the Admin login switch on the Team page, if you should have it.
[Page name] is part of [plan name]. with Ask the store owner to upgrade. The plan does not include the feature and you cannot manage billing.Upgrade the plan in Settings → Billing & Plan.
[Page name] isn't turned on for this store. The feature has not been enabled for the store.Turn it on in Settings.
This account is deactivated.Your account was switched off.Turn your account back on.

Select Ask owner where it is offered to copy a ready-made request, then send it to the owner yourself. If you are the owner and still see Ask the store owner..., check which role you are signed in as. Only the Owner (Super Admin) and Store Admin roles get See plans and Open settings.

The page works for a colleague but not for me

Compare the first line on each screen. A different message almost always means a different role. Staff and vendor roles cannot manage billing, so they see Ask owner where an Owner sees See plans.

I only see the page after reloading

If you see A new version is available. or Someone else changed this., select Reload once. The new version or the latest saved record loads and the message clears.
