Connect a Bought Domain to Your Store
Connect a domain bought with BillionBiz, check DNS and HTTPS, choose the primary address, or return to your BillionBiz address.
Use a domain you bought with BillionBiz as your store address, and keep your free address available while the connection is being checked.
Availability
Manage domain appears on each bought domain in My domains, but registrar changes work only when management is enabled for your store (otherwise they are refused with Domain registration management is currently unavailable.). If Manage domain is unavailable, keep using your existing store address and follow your purchase order.
Screen: Online Store → Domains → My domains → Manage domain → Overview (under storefront → Domains in the new admin sidebar). Select Scope → Store if the selector appears. This guide is for a bought registration; use Connect a domain you own for a name registered elsewhere.
Open the confirmed registration
The bought-domain row shows its registration status, expiry, automatic-renewal preference, and Primary badge when applicable. Click Manage domain on that row. Back to my domains returns to the list; Refresh details fetches a fresh snapshot and is disabled while loading.
The detail tabs are Overview, DNS records, Nameservers, Contacts, and Security & transfer. Only the store owner can manage a registration. Support and impersonation sessions are read-only: they can inspect permitted details but cannot connect, change the primary address, edit records, renew, or reveal a transfer code.
When the latest registrar read fails, the banner Registrar details are unavailable. Showing the last confirmed snapshot from a time, then Changes are disabled until a fresh read succeeds., appears and changes stay disabled until a later read succeeds. Click Refresh details, or reopen the domain once its saved details are more than about 10 minutes old, when they are re-read automatically. Until then the banner stays, even if the registrar has already recovered. An older snapshot alone does not trigger it. A registration held in operations custody also disables changes; contact support for handover. Changes can be unavailable for disputed registrations, pending suspension, or a suspended, redeemed, deleted, or transferred registration.
Complete registry verification
Overview → Registry verification separates Registrant email (ICANN RAA) from NIXI / eKYC. Read each status and any verification deadline. Look for messages from the registry or its verification partner, separately from BillionBiz messages, and complete their instructions.
Resend verification appears when verification needs attention. It is disabled when resend is unsupported, a change is in progress, the session is read-only, or the displayed next-allowed time has not arrived. NIXI Pending partner confirmation cannot be resent here; wait for the partner outcome. Unknown is not confirmation that verification succeeded.
Connect and choose the customer address
Check your gateway and delegation
In Store connection, read DNS connection, HTTPS, Current store address, BillionBiz address, and DNS target. Complete registry verification and check that the registration has not expired. Registrar-managed nameservers are required for Connect to store. If a gateway notice appears, Set up your payment gateway opens your payment gateway setup (Plugins → Razorpay); connect your own merchant Razorpay account there before using this bought address as the store's primary address.
Request the connection
Click Connect to store if no store connection is attached yet. The connection setup adds apex A records for the confirmed store ingress and a www CNAME for the displayed store target. Existing incompatible connection records can block this action; inspect them before using Reconnect. A requested change is not yet a confirmed connection.
Wait for DNS and HTTPS confirmation
Follow Change requested or The outcome is being checked, then use Refresh details. DNS verified alone does not mean HTTPS is ready. Your current primary address stays in place while checks run; continue sharing that address.
Make the bought domain primary
When DNS connection → Connected, HTTPS → Ready, and your payment gateway is connected, click Make primary. It appears only when this domain is not already primary and is disabled until those conditions are met. Refresh the confirmed Current store address, then open that address to check what customers reach before sharing it.
Connect to store is disabled for an expired or unconfirmed expiry, incomplete verification, external/unconfirmed nameservers, a read-only session, or an in-progress change. Reconnect and Make primary are disabled for the same expiry and verification reasons, and Make primary additionally waits for gateway, DNS connection, and HTTPS readiness.
When Connect is greyed out for verification
Connect to store, Make primary and Reconnect stay disabled until both Registrant email (ICANN RAA) and NIXI / eKYC read Verified or Not required. Any other state keeps them disabled: Pending verification, Suspended pending verification, Verification failed, Pending partner confirmation — resend is unavailable and Unknown. Unknown blocks them because the registrar's state was not recognised, not because anything is wrong with your domain. While they are blocked, Store connection shows Complete registry verification before connecting this domain. Connect and Make primary unlock once both checks show verified. The server enforces the same rule, so the buttons cannot be bypassed from another screen.
Registry verification can have a deadline. Under Registrant email (ICANN RAA), Overview → Registry verification shows Complete verification by a date when a deadline applies: the registrar's own, or 15 days after it started the email verification. Missing it can get the domain suspended, so complete the registry's message before that date.
BillionBiz emails the store owner at each step: a domain registered email with your invoice, then a Verify your domain registration email with the deadline, and finally is verified and fully active once both checks clear (see Emails you will receive). A failed eKYC keeps the domain in verification and never sends the confirmation. If the registry then suspends the domain over verification, you get the suspended pending verification email (headline yourbrand.com is suspended until you verify, button Restore your domain); otherwise you get the Verify your domain registration email (headline Verify your registration for yourbrand.com, button Complete verification). The domain registered email does not promise that you can connect while verification is outstanding. Once the verified and fully active email arrives, click Refresh details; the buttons enable when the page reads both checks as cleared.
Repair a connection
Review DNS before reconnecting
Reconnect can replace the DNS records used by the store: apex address records and conflicting records at the store connection hosts. Other DNS records are preserved, but services using the replaced records can stop working. Restoring managed nameservers replaces third-party delegation; records hosted there stop being used.
Open Reconnect
Click Reconnect in Store connection. The dialog is titled Reconnect this domain? and its warning reads Reconnect replaces only the DNS records used for the store connection. Other DNS records are preserved. Read it. If your nameservers are external or unconfirmed, the dialog offers Restore registrar-managed nameservers…. Select it only after reviewing the destination DNS setup; it is required to confirm reconnect in that case.
Acknowledge and confirm
Select I understand and want to continue., then Confirm change. Confirmation is disabled until acknowledgement and any required nameserver restoration are selected. Cancel closes the dialog without submitting.
Check the confirmed outcome
Wait for registrar confirmation and refresh the details. If the outcome is still being checked, do not submit again. A failed change means you must review its message and the latest confirmed records before retrying.
Return to your BillionBiz address
For a primary bought domain, click Use my BillionBiz address. The dialog is titled Switch to your BillionBiz address? and its warning reads This changes the primary address and keeps your registration and DNS records. The confirmation explains that the primary address changes while your registration and DNS records remain. Select I understand and want to continue., then Confirm change; Cancel leaves it unchanged.
The button is disabled while busy, in read-only mode, or if no BillionBiz fallback address is confirmed. Refresh Current store address before sharing the fallback with customers. This action does not cancel the registration or refund its purchase.
Troubleshooting: why don't I see X?
Why don't I see Manage domain or editable controls?
The management rollout must be available for your store and you must be the owner. Select Store, not a hosted site. Support sessions are read-only. A failed registrar read (the Registrar details are unavailable banner), a load error, operations custody, or a restricted registration can disable changes; use Refresh details or ask support about the displayed restriction.
Why is Connect to store greyed out?
Open Overview → Registry verification and read the rows shown (a .com shows only Registrant email (ICANN RAA); NIXI / eKYC appears only where the registry requires it). If either one is not Verified or Not required, complete the registry's instructions (check spam for the registry's message; Resend verification appears when it applies) and wait for the verified and fully active email. Unknown also blocks, so wait and Refresh details; if it stays unknown, contact support. If both rows are cleared, check the other causes in the list above: expiry, registrar-managed nameservers, a read-only session or a change in progress.
Why can't I make the domain primary?
Check all three prerequisites: connected DNS, ready HTTPS, and your own merchant Razorpay gateway. Complete verification and confirm the expiry too. If the primary address changed elsewhere, refresh before retrying.
Why is HTTPS pending or needs attention?
Check DNS and any CAA restrictions at the DNS provider. Propagation or certificate limits can delay issuance; automatic checks continue. Keep using your confirmed current address. Needs attention does not justify paying for the domain again.
Why does reconnect report a conflict or external nameservers?
Review DNS records and Nameservers before overwriting connection records. Third-party delegation must be explicitly restored if you want registrar-managed DNS to take effect. An unresolved store target or unavailable connection service can prevent a confirmed change; wait and refresh rather than inventing an IP target.
