Receipt Languages

Choose one of the 8 POS languages for the cashier receipt, Print and Payments section, and understand which parts of a printed or shared invoice follow the language.

Choose the language you read comfortably at the counter, then review the paid bill's on-screen receipt in that language. POS offers 8 languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali and Gujarati. The cashier language translates POS labels and the Payments section of the receipt. The saved invoice text on a printed or shared invoice does not change language; see What follows the language on printed and shared receipts.

Screen: Open /pos in either admin skin. Open More on the left rail and use the Language row (it reads, for example, Language: English). The same language selector is available on POS task screens. There is no separate receipt-language settings page.

Choose your cashier language

Select the language on this device

Open Language and choose one of the following options. Wait for the screen labels to change before continuing. You can choose English at any time to follow the English control names in these guides.

Open the paid receipt

Complete the bill using Counter Billing & Tenders, then select View receipt on the paid result. Check the store, invoice or order number, customer, items, quantities, tax and total. The receipt labels follow your selected cashier language.

Return after checking

Select Back to paid bill when finished. Changing the language does not create a new sale, change the paid amount, or replace the product and customer names on the bill.

Your choice is remembered in this browser when browser storage is available. Another counter or browser can have its own language. Without a saved choice, POS uses the first supported browser language, then English. If storage is blocked, your choice lasts for the current session.

Owner pages offer fewer languages

The cashier counter and task screens offer all 8 languages. Owner POS pages in the admin panel (for example Counter settings) do not have their own selector: they follow the admin panel's language, and only English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu match a POS language. If the admin panel is set to any other language, owner POS pages read in English. Marathi, Bengali and Gujarati are therefore available at the counter but not on owner pages.

Read amounts and invoice status

Money and quantities keep Western digits and Indian number grouping in every supported language. For example, changing the language does not change ₹1,20,000 into a different amount. Product names, variant names, customer names, invoice numbers and GSTIN values retain their recorded text. The supply date is displayed in the store's timezone with the selected language's date labels.

If the receipt says Receipt ready. Invoice number to follow., it is provisional. A provisional receipt also says Not a GST invoice; a paid bill can exist before its final invoice number is ready. Check again when you need the final invoice. Bill of Supply can appear for composition or unregistered stores; selecting a language does not change the store's tax treatment. The same rule decides the Per-order GST chip on Order Detail; see Invoice customization.

What follows the language on printed and shared receipts

OutputWhat is in your chosen languageWhat stays as saved
Payments section (on View receipt, Print, Share and WhatsApp)The heading, Cash, UPI and Card, and the UPI reference label. The amounts and the reference value itself.
PrintThe print document opened by Print has its own Language list with the same 8 options; its labels (document title and status, totals labels, copy type, and the Takeaway line on a takeaway bill) print in the language chosen there.Names, numbers, amounts and dates saved on the bill.
Share link and WhatsAppOnly the Payments section. A shared link opens in the language of the viewer's browser when it is one of the 8, otherwise in English. The rest of the invoice document is the store's generated invoice, in the language it was saved in.

Do not promise a translated tax invoice

The invoice text of the generated invoice stays in its saved language on View receipt, Share and WhatsApp. Only the Payments section is translated there. For a translated printout, use Print and pick the language on the print document, and inspect the physical output before handing it over.

Print the generated receipt

Open Print options (under Print). It has a Language list; choose the language you want on paper. Wait for the document to finish loading (a script's font must load before it can print), then select Print. Open Print options to set Language and 58 mm or 80 mm first; the language and paper choices are remembered on this device. Document copy offers Original document or Duplicate of original document only until this device has printed the bill; after that it is greyed out on Duplicate of original document, because a reprint is always a duplicate. Then select Print: the browser print dialog opens straight away, or once the document has loaded. Choose the installed printer in the browser dialog and inspect the physical output. Follow Scanners, Printers & Scales for paper and print troubleshooting. The language of the cashier's on-screen receipt does not set the printed language; the Language list on the print document does. The saved document preview on screen (for example under View saved document in a past bill) wraps long rows to fit the screen instead of running off the side. This changes only how the preview looks on screen; the document sent to the printer is unchanged.

Share a receipt link where supported

Select Share when the device supports sharing and a shareable receipt link is ready. Choose an application in the device's share panel. Cancelling that panel does not send a receipt. If sharing is unavailable, keep using View receipt; do not treat a disabled Share button as a failed payment.

Send through WhatsApp

Select WhatsApp, check WhatsApp number, then Send receipt. Enter a valid ten-digit Indian mobile number beginning with 6, 7, 8 or 9; an optional +91 prefix is accepted. Sending the receipt ends the undo window. Will send when the invoice is ready. is a queued state; the request does not confirm delivery to the customer. The receipt screen does not poll for delivery status after queuing. Check the recipient before sending.

Back to paid bill leaves receipt actions and returns to the paid result. An action busy with loading or sending may disable its controls; wait for the result before trying another action.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat to do
Some labels stay in EnglishEnglish is the fallback for unavailable translations. Check that the chosen option is one of the 8 supported languages.
The language is different on another counterSelect Language on that browser too; the preference is local to the browser.
The choice is forgotten after restartingBrowser storage may be blocked or cleared. Choose the language again; it can remain only for that session.
Receipt text has missing script charactersLet the screen finish loading and check your connection. The supported scripts need their fonts to load; switching to English provides a readable fallback.
The receipt could not load. Try again.Select Try again on the receipt error. If the receipt failed to load while the counter was offline (or the request dropped), the paid-screen receipt reloads by itself when the connection returns. The receipt is being prepared. Try again shortly. does not reload by itself; retry it yourself. A receipt-loading error does not mean the bill was unpaid.
The receipt is being prepared. Try again shortly. The final receipt for a just-paid bill is not ready yet. This can appear when you read, print or resend a receipt. Wait a moment and try again; the bill itself is paid. For a WhatsApp send, the button changes to Retry receipt request.
Print does not open the dialogWait for the generated print document to load; the dialog opens on its own once it is ready. Review the invoice status and use Try again after a receipt-load error.
A shareable receipt link is not ready yet.Wait for the receipt link rather than sharing an incomplete address. The on-screen receipt remains available.
Sharing is unavailable on this device. You can view the receipt.Use View receipt, or print through the browser if available.
Send receipt is disabledCheck the mobile-number format and whether another action is busy.
The receipt could not be sent. Try again.Check the recipient and connection before retrying. A queued or failed send is separate from the bill's payment status.
Printed output is in a different languageThe cashier language does not choose the printed language. Open Print options, pick the language in its Language list, and let the document reload before you select Print. A shared or WhatsApp invoice keeps its saved invoice text; only its Payments section follows the language.
An owner page is in English although the counter is in Marathi, Bengali or GujaratiOwner POS pages follow the admin panel's language, which matches only English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. Other admin languages show English there.

Receipts retain the original bill's commerce records. Use Orders, Refunds & Carts for the original online order, Products, Inventory & Categories for recorded product names, and Appointments & Bookings for connected service bookings.
